(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 12, 2013 ) England, UK -- Officials at the Forks Township have been burdened with the handling of leakage issues at the public works building for nearly half a year. Thankfully, it looks as if an answer to the problem is finally near.
Over the past six months, Mark Roberts, who sits as Public Works director, has watched the massive structure being built from the ground up.
While Forks Township's new public works facility is structured to be a state-of-the-art facility that has all the bells and whistles that one would expect on a $5.5 million structure, some are concerned the facility will never actually open.
The reason for the concern is not a vague sense of pessimism, either. Instead, it is due to the concerns of the fact that the facility, and thus Roberts, have been dealing with a waterproofing issue for the entire structure.
As of yet, "Waterproofing is still not resolved," Roberts informed the board of supervisors at a recent meeting.
The initial thought was that the facility could open next falls, but as the months pass and no headway is made on the leakage, that time frame seems less and less likely.
"Leakage is not going away. This keeps dragging on," Supervisor John O'Neil said. "This is a discussion we probably don't want to have."
"We need to say enough is enough," Supervisors Chairman Erik Chuss said.
The supervising board has taken the time to discuss what legal ramifications could arise and just how the board might handle the high price tag of water damage.
"I put contractors on notice," Roberts said. "This is unacceptable. It needs to be remediated."
The architect of the building, Martin D. Kimmel, was summoned to appear in front of the board, but is said to not be showing. Chus stated that he was given notification of the architect and contractor stating they had handled the water leak. He also stated that they will be monitoring the situation, and will tell the officials if the leakage has truly been resolved.
