Written by Melissa Eden, the book follows the true story of how Sophie and Daisy were separated shortly after birth, then reunited by two sisters several months later.
Although Ms. Eden now lives in Connecticut, the story takes place when she was sharing an apartment with her sister Tara in New York City. Ms. Eden recalls, "Tara had been looking to adopt a dog on her own and had wanted ![]()

a Bichon Frise because of their good nature. A few months after adopting Sophie, Tara went back to the same pet store for some dog food and noticed another Bichon Frise that had recently been brought in."
"At the time, Daisy was really skinny and in pretty bad shape, so when Tara realized that this was actually Sophie's sister, she called me right away to stop in. Once I saw Daisy, I knew she needed my help and I had to save her. I still remember that moment when we reintroduced Sophie and Daisy, and you could tell right away that they knew they were sisters."
When asked about why she turned her story into a children's book, Ms. Eden describes how she felt it was a story that would connect well with children. "Kids love dogs and this has the added element of fate, and an unbreakable bond between two sisters. It's a very unique story, and I think the truth behind it is very heartwarming."
The book had been written several years ago, but sat untouched as Ms. Eden focused on raising her daughter. After technology appeared to make the publishing process easier, Ms. Eden decided to find an illustrator and self-publish the book. Once she had the illustrations done by an artist she met online, Ms. Eden published the book through CreateSpace, an on-demand publisher owned by amazon.
The book is currently available in both paperback and Kindle exclusively on Amazon.com Due to the positive response, Ms. Eden hopes to publish a sequel early next year.
