Three areas within the state ranked among the top 20 American casino markets for gambling revenues, according to the study. Philadelphia was found at No. 6, while the Poconos was sat at No. 9 and Pittsburgh was settled in at No. 17 overall.
The state ranks second in gambling, and is nestled into first place for casino tax revenue. Without surprise, Las Vegas Strip sits at the No. 1 spot in the nation, and posted a $6.21 billion tally in gambling revenue. That constitutes a doubling of Atlantic City, which pulls in $3 billion. Pennsylvania grabs a $3.16 billion in revenue from 11 major casinos. That is still a far cry from the $10.86 billion seen moving through Nevada, but is still a respectable second place.
The figures were compiled as part of the AGA's annual State of the States report, which is created to show the general gambling landscape across the nation. It's clear that both the present and future look bright for the U.S. gaming industry, Fahrenkopf says in a conference call.
The nationwide gross gambling revenue is somewhere just above $37.34 billion for 2012. That is the third year in a row that revenue rose, and is also the second largest amount found on record. The numbers are constituted from standalone, riverboat, and racetracks that are licensed by the state. The numbers do not include any Native American establishments or operations.
