(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 12, 2014 ) San Francisco, CA -- Foundation Pet Formulas announced ARME's Beagle Freedom Project (BFP) as the first recipient of the company's "Paw It Forward" charitable giving campaign. The pet supplement company provided BFP with supplies and a monetary grant in support of BFP's work to liberate animals that are used for laboratory testing. BFP originally began rescuing Beagles from labs in 2010, and has since assisted in the rescue of cats, fish, pigs, and even miniature horses from laboratories in the U.S., Spain, and the U.K.

people believe laboratory testing is only done on rats or mice, and because most people see these rodents as pests, they don't give it much thought. What is less commonly known, is that dogs, particularly Beagles, are used for testing harsh and toxic substances in laboratories here and around the world every single day," explained Sue Darien, spokesperson for Foundation Pet Formulas. "Beagles are used most often because they're very lovable and trusting, and allow humans to handle them without a fuss, which of course is the saddest part of all of this. Being a company that focuses on the health and happiness of animals, we felt compelled to support this amazing organization and its mission."

Funding for the donation to BFP came directly from Foundation Pet Formulas' 2013 sales of MOVE Plus Extra Strength Hip and Joint Formula, a joint supplement for dogs containing glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM. Currently, MOVE Plus is sold in the U.S. exclusively on Amazon.com and at select small pet businesses in the company's hometown of San Francisco. "Our company's mission from the start was not only to provide the highest quality supplements to improve the health and life quality of domestic pets, but to also contribute to the welfare of animals everywhere, both domestic and in the wild," Darien said. "A portion of every sale we make goes into our Giving Fund' as we call it, that's just how we're set up, and actually, it feels pretty great knowing that."

The company is proud to have realized their vision of charitable giving in its first year and looks forward to continuing its support of BFP and other organizations in the future through their "Paw It Forward" charitable giving campaign.

About Beagle Freedom Project

Beagle Freedom Project began in December 2010 when President and Founder, Shannon Keith, received information that Beagles who were used for animal experiments in a research lab were to be given a chance at freedom. Their mission is rescuing and finding homes for Beagles used in laboratory research. Working directly with laboratories who are willing to turn over the dogs for adoption rather than euthanize them, Beagle Freedom Project is able to remove and transport Beagles to place them in loving homes. All rescues are done legally with the cooperation of the facility. Beagle Freedom Project's hope is that with help from supporters, more research labs can be encouraged to release animals and give them a chance at life, instead of destroying adoptable pets.
