(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 13, 2014 ) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania -- Ever hear of The Rainbow Loom? This popular children's item was only one of the most highly requested toys of 2013.

What about Operation Christmas Child? Since 1993, more than 100 million children in over 130 countries have been able to experience God's love through the power of simple shoebox gifts collected worldwide and distributed to them by Operation Christmas Child. Samaritans Purse is the international relief organization that sponsors the yearly Operation Christmas Child campaigns.

Looney Bin Demonstration

Christmas season, Start-up Toy Company Looney Loon Toys was able to generously donate 44 specially crafted toy kits to Operation Christmas Child this year. Each of these "Looney Kits" included a Rainbow Loom toy, a colorful "Looney Bin" Rainbow Loom case, a Mega "Looney Bands" Kit, a pre-made Salvation bracelet, and other accessories.

Spokesperson Jack Cross had this to say. "We figured that even if these children have never heard of this toy before, the social engagement that kids get from making these bracelets with each other, getting to exercise their creativity together, maybe they even develop into little entrepreneurs and start trading or selling whatever they make for something that they might need, these are just some of the great things that could happen for these kids, so why not give them the best materials we can find for them to make bracelets with? Or maybe we're just Looney that way..." he finished with a grin.

Although Looney Loon Toys does not manufacture any Rainbow Looms, the company was able to procure Rainbow Looms in bulk and created the Ultimate Loom Toy Package (which in-house is affectionately known as a Looney Kit) specifically for the Operation Christmas Child 2013 Toy Drive.

The "Looney Kit" consists of a Looney Bin Rainbow Loom Box which comes in four colors, has a handle and 19 separate compartments, a Rainbow Loom plus standard accessories, and an enormous 10 color Looney Bands 4800 Mega Pack of Rainbow Loom Rubber Bands.

An interesting side note: During the Operation Christmas Child Toy Drive, many of the children and adults that encountered the prototype Looney Kits expressed an overwhelming interest in owning one, so Looney Loon Toys is now in the process of developing The Looney Kit as a product that will be made available to the public in the near future.

"It was pretty great timing actually," said Jack, "We had enough time to get some additional Looney Kits into the hands of other needy families through a few local toy drives for the holiday as well. And one other interesting thing we found out, seems like senior citizens who are able to get their hands on one of these Loom toys really take a liking to it as well, like my wife's mother, she's a bracelet making machine. Loves them!

Then he shrugged. "It's just like I always say, you're never to old to play. And that's why I love this business."
