Pamela Davis of Arlington, Washington was just starting out in her new position as marketing director for Cascadia Innovations as the deep chill descended. She had barely had time to take up her new position when the temperatures dipped precipitously below zero.
"We anticipated some increase related to the cold weather, but as the cold extended across the country, demand seemed to rise inversely. What we had thought would be a local weather event suddenly stretched from the east coast to Seattle." she said.
Across the nation as cold temperatures and snowfall levels broke records cold weather clothing and accessories experienced record breaking levels of their own. From Salt Lake to New England and as far south as Georgia and Tennessee, the cold weather brought out the shoppers looking for the clothes they needed to stay warm.
Heading into Christmas week as milder temperatures return to much of the nation the retail outlook remains strong as clear roads and milder conditions make it easier for shoppers to get out and complete their holiday shopping.
