JLM Security Products Releases A Redesigned Night Vision Alarm Clock Hidden Camera DVR

(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 02, 2013 ) Gulfport, MS -- JLM Security Products, a worldwide provider of innovative surveillance and security solutions, announces the release of the redesigned SleuthGear Zone Shield Night Vision Clock Radio DVR. Manufactured by KJB Security Products, pioneers of "The Original Nanny Cam", the SleuthGear brand is known throughout the law enforcement and private investigator community for professional grade surveillance and security products.

"This new design is the result of repeated attempts to provide a reliable clock radio DVR that would not have to be tweaked, fitted, or modified" said Jeff Monson, owner of JLM Security Products. "Consumers want and need a device that gives no outward clues that it's a hidden camera. We've had complaints on the previous model about this very thing - it needs to be 100% covert." Jeff also said, "KJB partnered with a clock manufacturer to design a clock that is made specifically to house surveillance components - specifically a micro camera and mini digital video recorder. The end result is that there is absolutely no outward appearance that anything has been modified."

The SleuthGear Zone Shield Night Vision Clock Radio DVR is a motion activated hidden camera that records hidden video surveillance to a micro SD card up to 32GB. The camera is hidden behind a tinted face plate on the front of the clock so there are no "pinholes" to give it away. This night vision model now features invisible IR illuminators - LED emitters that operate in the 940nM spectrum and, although completely invisible to the human eye, "light up" the surveillance area in the camera's perspective. This is a change from the 850nM illuminators on the previous model that emitted a red glow that was visible to humans.

The device can also be programmed to operate in continuous recording and scheduled recording modes. Motion detection is by far the mode of choice for most consumers, since the user doesn't have to sift through hours of essentially "empty" footage. In motion detection mode, it will record only when motion triggers recording. It does this by employing Video Motion Detection (VMD) technology, which is a software-based algorithm that compares pixel movement between video frames. If there is enough pixel movement for the algorithm to qualify it as a motion event, automatic recording is triggered.

The SC8000 does not, however, have to be operated in motion detection mode. Continuous and scheduled recording modes are available for those that know exactly when they want the device to be recording, making it useful for law enforcement, military, and other professional investigative applications. Using the remote control and connecting the device to an HDTV or monitor, users can enter into the menu configuration screens and set the device up to record continuously or select the exact hours for recording to start and stop.

Since it records to micro SD card, users can also select whether the recording stops when the memory card is full or to overwrite existing video files. In overwrite mode, it uses First In, First Out (FIFO) abstraction in order for the memory card to store only the most recent footage.

To playback the recorded video footage, the user can remove the micro SD card and play back the video footage on a PC via the memory card reader and the included video playback software. Since the file format of the video can only be recognized by this proprietary software, the video cannot be viewed in the event the memory card gets into the wrong hands.

The device also features a video output so the user can playback the footage right through their HDTV or monitor - any type of display that has or is adaptable to standard RCA video input. The user controls this playback using the included infrared remote control.

The unit comes with the clock DVR, remote control, USB memory card reader, and 4GB micro SD card with standard SD adapter, and retails for 25% less than its predecessor.
