created from best-selling childrens fantasy book series Redwall, written by Brian Jacques.
AbbeyCraft is the first officially licensed game adaptation release to Redwall: The Warrior Reborn, the popular Redwall series that is currently in development. Initial funding for the project was raised through Kickstarter, which continues to crowdsource the games development. Participation, as a source of funding, from Minecraft users and Redwall fans remains active. One of the most important aspects of AbbeyCraft and The Warrior Reborn is that they reflect the spirit of Redwall Abbey and that means community, CTO and lead designer Chris Skaggs said. Developing a Minecraft map and server as the first step of the adventure game allows us to create ways for Redwall fans and the Minecraft community to actively participate and evolve the game in a meaningful and authentic way.
Soma Games uses the funds as well as the community feedback from the Kickstarter project to expand AbbeyCraft. The developers also plan to pursue other funding models and future crowdfunding to advance the games development. Praxis Labs Business Accelerator Program
has recently accepted Soma Games as an entrepreneur that is duty-bound by their faith to advance the common good. The company will use the programs resources and excellent network for the development and future expansion of the Redwall game.
RedwallAbbey.com, the official forum for the game is also being solicited for feedback from the Minecraft community and Redwall fans by Soma Games. Additionally, the company is collaborating with Sean Rubin, the official Redwall artist and unofficial curator of the canon.
