(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 27, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- There are less than 100 days left before the Ontario Hockey League's new North Bay Battalion drop puck for their first home game. Renovations at the Memorial Gardens are now in the sprint to the finish.

A report has noted that the $12-million project will be presented to the North Bay city council at the end of the month.

The Battalion, who moved to the North Pay from Brampton, where they were stationed for 15 years, will take on the Peterborough Petes. A revamp of the Gardens was considered crucial for achieving a return of a junior hockey team to the North Bay.

City officials have stressed that the new facility would be state of the art, and hold a floral/green theme to its exterior and entrance area.

The work of construction is still on schedule. There will be some odds and ends that are not finished on deadline, while other areas of construction are set to be done ahead of schedule.

Normally this would be a 12-month project, said project manager Ken Allen.

Work had stated after the relocation was announced in November of 2012. Well be ready and theyll be ready, said Battalion president Mike Griffin. Were going to have a high-end hockey facility.

The M. Sullivan and Son of Arnprior were given the contract, and worked with local workers at all possible opportunities. A lot of local talent is working in this building, said Allen.

The new stadium will hold an electronic scoreboard, fans, and air conditioning in state of the art dressing rooms for players. Outside will be a sleek and floral set up that gives the facility a

strong eco-friendly look and plenty of color.

Renovations meant that the Battalion was forced to start the the OHL season with nine away games, but will of course return for home matches on an extended home streak.
